MANISTEE COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT
Millage Proposition Language:
S hall the tax limitation under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within the County of Manistee be increased by up to 0.100 mills ($0.10 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period of 2014 through 2018, inclusive, to fund Manistee County Conservation District programs to assist landowners in the protection, enhancement, and restoration of natural resources, including invasive plant species control, household hazardous waste collection, critical dune permit control, and endangered forest restoration within Manistee County, and shall the County of Manistee levy such millage for said purpose, thereby raising in the first year an estimated $108,728.
How Much Will a Millage Cost Taxpayers?
If the value of your home is $100,000, your taxable value would be $50,000. So, $0 .10 of the taxable value would amount to $5 per year. Most Manistee residents will pay less than $10 per year to support the Manistee Conservation District, about the cost of one large combo meal at a local fast-food restaurant.
